Hilbre Island
A popular activity at all times of the year is the walk across the sands at West Kirby to Hilbre Island from where grey seals can often be viewed resting on a nearby sand bank or swimming around the rocks on the incoming tide. The islands designated as a site of Special Sceintific Interest are owned by Wirral Metropolitan Council who manage them as a Local Nature Reserve.
