Food and Food Events

Having lived on a farm all my life I have always been in an environment where good quality food has been important. My mother, an excellent cook always produced good wholesome meals and superb cakes - she still bakes every Friday even though she is now 90 years old. I am enjoying pinching some of her recipes and cooking traditional lunches for our business meetings, dinners for parties and baking cakes for all our guests.

Having spent many years in my former career supporting and promoting local and regional food and drink Mere Brook House has given me the opportunity to carry on this work in a very practical way. As a result you will find that we offer locally produced food whenever possible.

Breakfasts

Our breakfasts include a choice of

Cereals, porridge, fruit juice, yoghurts, cheese and fresh fruit

Dry Cheshire cured bacon, pork sausage, black pudding, mushrooms and tomatoes with eggs either fried, scrambled or poached

Along with tea or fresh coffee, toast, Mere Brook honey, marmalade and jam

Business Lunches

Food EventsWe offer a two course lunch for our business and conference meeting delegates. Examples include home baked ham, chicken pilaff, cheese and onion brioche, BBQ brisket, Cumberland sausage casserole, chicken casserole all served with potatoes and seasonal vegetables or homemade coleslaw, waldorfsalad and green salad. This is followed by one of our fourteen homemade sweets such as apple crumble, rhubarb brulee and raspberry pavlova with an option of local cheeses.

Special celebrations

We host a variety of events – wedding breakfasts, wedding parties, birthday parties and Xmas events – and can offer everything from a formal dinner with canapés, main course, sweets, local and regional cheese board, tea and coffee with tiffen to a celebration buffet or BBQ..

We take a pride in sourcing many our ingredients locally –  our suppliers include Whieldon's butchers at Higher Bebington, Parkinson’s shop 'The Foxes' next door to Mere Brook House, Pendrill cheese suppliers from Mollington – and the honey is in fact Mere Brook Honey!
