Mere Brook Beekeeping & Homemade Honey

Mere Brook HoneyWith Cheshire often dubbed as “the land of milk and honey”, the Tyson family, who have made a life’s work in dairy farming, have turned to beekeeping – producing the quintessential, Cheshire package.

Passionate about Cheshire’s countryside and rich, agricultural heritage, the family’s Wirral farm and grounds at Mere Brook Bed and Breakfast spans 500 acres and is now home to an impressive 20+ beehives.

During the first year of bee-keeping, which can best be described as a very steep learning curve, farmer and owner of Mere Brook house Donald Tyson and his business partner Mary Houston, North West Food Tourism Co-ordinator, have been plagued with stings, chased swarms from dawn until dusk, acquainted by themselves with the many politics of beekeeping and – most of all – been consistently outsmarted by the little blighters and left astounded by how unpredictable the can be !
