There are several ways in which Mere Brook House has become involved in making a wedding or celebration a truly memorable experience for everyone.

Why not consider Mere Brook House for your own wedding reception.

As we are a country house on the wirral, Mere Brook is ideal for the more intimate and relaxed wedding event with close family and friends as you have exclusive use of the house and gardens.

We can accomodate for a formal sit down meal upto 60 guests for the main wedding reception or if you prefer a more informal buffet style upto 100.

We normally provide a range of exquisite canapé’s during the drinks reception held in the garden room and on the patio overlooking the gardens and pond, a choice of two starters served at the table and then we like to provide options for the main course and sweets. As farmers we are passionate about our food and so tend to favour traditional dishes such as roast rib of beef, honey glazed ham, grilled salmon, a vegetarian dish served with potatoes and seasonal vegetables but we are happy to bring in Brian Mellor, a master chef if you prefer a grander style of food. A selection of sweets follow which are all homemade in our country house kitchen, and then a local and regional cheese board is offered along with tea and coffee.

It is important to us to use local ingredients wherever possible.

As we prefer to give our guests a wide choice, rather than a set menu and allow guests to taste several dishes rather than just one we do use more food at an event than is the standard recommended amount per person. We even offer second helpings !

After the speeches and toast guests can relax in the garden room and later join in the dancing to live or recorded music.

If you require we can later provide a tasty buffet for your main and any additional evening guests.

The Bride and Groom

When choosing  the furniture and colours for the Balcony room I always had in mind that this  would make a wonderful bridal suite and I am thrilled that we have had several  bride and grooms choose this room – we suggest you bring some of your  belongings prior to the wedding and we will give you a key so you can arrive  whenever it is convenient and as we don’t have set breakfast times you don’t  have to rush up the next day !

The Bride’s big day !

Mere Brook House is a superb venue for the evening before your wedding and provides an ideal place for getting ready on your wedding day. Even if your reception is elsewhere we are happy to host the bridal party and bridesmaids or the grooms party or both - we regularly provide a pre wedding supper on the eve of the wedding for guests staying with us along with any staying locally. On the big day the house becomes a fun chaotic place full of guests getting ready with the help of hairdressers, makeup artists and florists and we have become experts at not only providing flutes for the champagne along with lots of homemade cakes but have an endless supply of safety pins and cotton and thead.

Cost is dependent on many different factors and as we are an independent country house we would recommend that if you wish to further enquire about a wedding or particular event at Mere Brook House, just get in touch and we can arrange a full viewing of the property including seating arrangements, the grounds and bedrooms so you can get a real idea of what we do here and all queries and questions can be discussed.

No matter what the special occasion is – ruby wedding, golden wedding, big birthday – Mere Brook House is an ideal venue. Just bring along your family and friends to enjoy this exclusive country house and we will do the rest. We can provide anything from a small intimate private dinner for 20 guests to a large buffet for 100 – and we pride ourselves on providing the best in home cooking using the best ingredients.
